In 2010, a Panama Expat murdered several people….
The story took shape – and it was true, not a fable – of a man and his wife in Bocas del Toro on Panama’s Caribbean side, who were taking property from other expats after killing them. The year was 2010. This past week in 2017 – Panama Expat Convicted for Killings – thank goodness, justice has been served!
The man became known as Wild Bill. This all happened in the years leading up to 2010 – just seven short years ago. I lived in Panama at the time. The local media in Panama and worldwide went ape crazy over the Wild Bill story.
Wild Bill – just last week – was convicted in Panama. You can read that story here.
The Wild Bill story inspired a book by another Panama expat friend…..
Meanwhile, another expat friend of mine, David Goldfield, wrote and published a book “based on true events” about this very tale. I’ve read it. It’s very entertaining, and includes a great picture of expat life in Panama, and also the Wild Bill debacle. You can get his book – Into the Volcano – on Amazon if intrigue and crazy killings in the jungle is your cup of tea.
Here’s where to get his book on Amazon, inspired by Wild Bill.
I never thought my former expat life in Panama would include a killer (Wild Bill, though I never met him…thank God!) and an up-and-coming author of a book about the crazy story – which will soon be made into a movie! (David’s pitching the screenplay as we speak)….
Meanwhile, I moved to Costa Rica 🙂
Years after Wild Bill, I relocated to neighboring Costa Rica. To keep up with me there and my expat musings, go to La Pura Vida Costa Rica dot com. And if you’re in the market for some South Pacific Costa Rica Real Estate, you can find me at our new boutique real estate firm there, as well.
